West Highland White Terrier Breed Information:
The West Highland white terrier was developed in Scotland in the middle of 19th century. They are used as hunting dogs and are known as a true champion.  This breed of dogs is very energetic and cooperative, they do well with children and older people, they get along with other pets around them.

This breed of dogs are very intelligent and sensitive, they built a strong relationship with master and can become destructive if they are left alone for long periods of time.The West Highland White terrier is a very energetic and speedy breed. They are very alert and are suspicious of strangers and can be used as a watch dog and a guard dog.

This dog breed has a double coat, the outer coat is straight, harsh and wiry where as the under coat is close, fluffy and soft. Their coat is brilliant white in color and lends to this breed an elegant look. West Highland White Terrier are moderate shedders.

This dog's breed requires early age socialization and obedience training, training should be done with fairness and patience, they will not respond to harsh and hard methods of training.

This highly energetic breed needs consistent exercise to remain fit. This breed is not recommended for apartment living, they do best in rural settings with a job to do. They love to go for a walk and enjoys family play sessions.  This breed of dogs has a double coat which requires regular brushing to prevent dirt and dead hair, bathing should be done when needed.
